We are seeking to recruit a Research Associate (RA) to work as part of project to investigate the culture of marine invertebrates for the marine aquarium trade. The RA will, under guidance of Dr G Watson (PI), develop and test methods of rearing key species that have aquaculture potential focusing on the bottlenecks (e.g. the larval stages). The RA will produce a technical report and help generate scientific papers for dissemination. The successful candidate will have an appropriate BSc qualification and ideally, a postgraduate qualification. They will also have knowledge and experience of aquaculture and animal husbandry.

This post is funded for 3 months at 0.6 FTE. A driving licence valid for the UK is desirable and willingness to work flexible hours is essential.

The post is based at the Institute of Marine Sciences which is an internationally renowned marine centre providing research (www.port.ac.uk/school-of-biological-sciences/research/marine-environmental-science/) and teaching (www.port.ac.uk/school-of-biological-sciences/facilities/institute-of-marine-sciences/), supporting over 200 staff, undergraduates and postgraduates, but with strong interdisciplinary links across the University, including the University of Portsmouth sustainability and Environment theme (www.port.ac.uk/research/sustainability-and-the-environment) and the School of Biological Sciences (www.port.ac.uk/school-of-biological-sciences/).
